Oscar Wolfe
Oscar Wolfe is a junior in Columbia’s dual degree program with The Jewish Theological Seminary of America (JTS). He is pursuing degrees in American Studies and Jewish Ethics.
Oscar began serving on GSSC in his freshman year as the Student Services and Academic Affairs Representative. In this role, he spearheaded the effort to permanently extend the pass/fail deadline for General Studies and Columbia College students, writing a statement that was unanimously passed by GSSC, cosigned by CCSC, and implemented by the Committee on Instruction.
As a sophomore, Oscar led GSSC’s Policy Committee as Vice President of Policy. As VP Policy, he more than doubled funding for GSSC’s subsidized MetroCard program, and wrote a statement signed by ten student councils throughout Columbia advocating for a University-wide version of the program. Oscar also founded the Stakeholder Committee, which ensures that student leaders throughout GS have access to council leadership, and provides GSSC with advice from the school’s diverse communities.
Outside of GSSC, Oscar has interned for two congressional campaigns, the Minnesota Senate, the Minnesota House of Representatives, and a tech startup. At JTS, he was elected First-Year Class President, and is currently serving as an Admissions Intern and Resident Advisor for the dual degree program. When Oscar’s not working, you can find him pacing the length of the Tomb of Ulysses S. Grant on 122nd St.
