Heewon Jang

Heewon Jang is a student at Columbia University’s School of General Studies, majoring in Computer Science. She already holds a degree in Marketing from Korea, making this her second degree. She is passionate about the intersections of technology, media, and global communication, and has explored these interests through both academic and professional experiences.

Heewon has built a strong background in both tech and communications. She worked as a Tech & Social Media Manager, leading digital content strategy and managing social media outreach. She also served as a Marketing Coordinator, supporting cross-team projects, and gained research experience as a Research Assistant with the NSF REU program, where she focused on data analysis and applications of artificial intelligence.

On campus, Heewon is deeply engaged with the GS community and academic networks, while also pursuing personal projects such as developing an AI-powered mental health application that combines data science with emotional well-being.

This year, she is excited to serve as the Social Media Representative on the GS Student Council, where she looks forward to strengthening communication with students and showcasing the vibrant GS community. Outside of her studies and student council work, she enjoys exploring New York City and discovering new cultural and artistic experiences!
