Erik J Rogel

Erik Rogel is a sophomore majoring in Economics-Political Science. He transferred from The Borough of Manhattan Community College (CUNY), where he built the foundation for his current academic path.

Before Columbia, Erik spent over a decade working professionally—starting in food and farm partnerships, then moving into startup fulfillment operations and eventually logistics and operations management. Throughout this career, he became increasingly focused on integrating technology into operations through systems and production automation, which sparked his interest in how technology shapes labor policy and worker protections.

This past summer, Erik completed a federal internship as a Software Developer, where he developed C++ architecture for in-orbit vehicles, liaised with contractors in weekly development meetings, and participated in contract and budgeting strategy sessions to ensure project continuity across fiscal calendars.

Originally from Chicago but living in New York since 2013, Erik is drawn to work that's both novel and systems focused. He's excited to join GSSC and represent the diverse GS student body.
